Becoming a Senior Caregiver: What led Chris to a career in caregiving?

What led you to begin a career in caregiving? When I became a Medical Assistant and was laid off I pursued Caregiving.

What is one of your most memorable caregiving experiences? I worked for a lady named Anne. She has heart concerns. She lived with her son Bradley.  She had a huge family but was still lonely.  We became very good friends and she taught me how to knit.

How many years have you been a caregiver? I have been a caregiver for 5 years.

What has being a caregiver taught you? The elderly are very neglected and lonely.  They are starving for a little affection, stimulation, and excitement in their senior years.

How do you manage the stress that comes with caregiving?  Without my spiritual beliefs and relationship with Jesus I probably could not handle caregiving all the time.  I also take long walks and do something fun for myself on my days off.
