Becoming a Senior Caregiver: What led Jasmin to a career in caregiving?

What led you to begin a career in caregiving?  When I was 15 years old my grandfather was truly ill. He had a lung disease and was dying slowly. I attended by my grandfather's side as he  was passing away. Caring for him was a very greatful and heartfelt experience. That is what lead meto the career in caregiving.

What is one of your most memorable caregiving experiences? My most memorable caregiving moment was when I started my actual job with Age In Place Homecare and my client Mrs. Sylvia. As  I would prepare for dinner she would give me pointers on some very healthy techniques in cooking. She was very sweet and kind and as helpful as I was to her.

How many years have you been a caregiver? I have been a caregiver for 1 year and 3 months.

What has being a caregiver taught you? Being a caregiver has taught me a lot about careging for people. I have learned that patience, kindness and genuineness are the keys to becoming a caregiver.

How do you manage the stress that comes with caregiving? Although there will be tough times and obstacles, I ten to take some "Me" and "Mommy" time with my fmily. That really lessens the stress of my caregiving career.
