Becoming a Senior Caregiver: What led Michelle to a career in caregiving?
-What led you to begin a career in caregiving? What let me nto this career of caregiving is that I like to help people and I love to make them happy. I love and enjoy working with people, communicating with them and making them feel comfortable is the main thing.-What is one of your most memorable caregiving experiences? I remember working with an elderly man who was so kind and happy. One day I came into his room because I had to bathe him and take to him to have breakfast, but before i took him, he took my hand and said "You are such a wonderful grandaughter, may God Bless You". Those words stayed with me all these years. He was such a great person.-How many years have you been a caregiver? In 1988, I had took a C.N.A .course from Chicago City Wide College. I graduated with a C.N.A. Certificate and worked in a nursing home.-What has being a caregiver taught you? I also worked with kids. I hope to learn everything I can.-How do you manage the stress that comes with caregiving? If there any stress involved like to keep my mind, and body busy. That includes listening to lovely music, cleaning, washing, or even having a nice tranquil conversation with the person.
