i would not trust this site. in the state of michigan the spouse is not liable for the deceases medical bills. it is state law. also credit cards that are not in the spouses name means no pay. companies can try to collect, sending them to collection agencies but stand your ground!

My wife has diagonosed as terminally ill. I am your caregiver. Since then, she has been pushing me out of her life and replacing me with her grown children (from a previous marriage). We have always have separate financial accounts. She refuses to assist in the monthly bills. She has given one of her children (from the previous marriage, a healthcare and a general power of attorney. She tried to get to convince me to replace her with our son on our deed( to keep me from selling it after her death). She, also, removed me as a beneficiery from her life insurance. By state law, I am responsible for her medical bills after she passes. Should her grown children share in the responsiblity of her debts?

My mother died over a year ago. Her money was in a revocable trust account. I have paid all her medical bills from that account. However, it is now over one year and I am still getting some small bills. How long am I obligated to pay these bills before distributing the trust money to my siblings. I live in Florida and so did my mother.
