What is a Card Verification Code?

A Card Verification Code (CVC) is a number that provides extra security to credit and debit card holders. CVCs help ensure that someone making a purchase actually has the physical card in their possession.

American Express: 4-digit CVC located on the front of the card, on the right side
Discover, MasterCard & Visa: 3-digit CVC located on the back of the card — the last three digits of the number on the signature bar
