Caregiverlist gives you the top-line information you need when reviewing a nursing home — including the prices. Because government inspection reports are missing about 20% of reported data and are only conducted roughly once per year, they are a starting point, not the full picture. Factors with higher accuracy, such as staff-to-patient ratio, are weighted more heavily in our ratings.
This is the rating for the overall results of the government inspection reports.
Residents with pressure sores need to be repositioned every 2 hours to allow healing and prevent new sores. A higher percentage raises the question: are residents arriving with sores or developing them after arrival? Pressure sores can lead to infections and mobility issues.
Caregiverlist weights this ranking higher. A C.N.A.'s largest frustration at a nursing home is the inability to adequately care for all assigned residents. Since assistance with personal care, exercise, and meals directly impacts recovery and healthy aging, the C.N.A.-to-resident ratio is a high indicator of care quality.
When residents need more help with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and not enough nursing aides are staffed, residents miss showers, dressing, physical therapy, and activities. More ADL needs require proportionally more C.N.A. staffing.
How much will you pay per day when Medicare coverage ends? If long-term nursing home care is required, what will it cost? If you are spending down assets paying for nursing home care, will the nursing home accept Medicaid as payment?
